'We remain unfazed' by the vote: Israel says it will continue building settlements in defiance of UN resolution

Does Israel not want peace in the form of the two-state solution? I don't get it. Every other time the US sticks up for Israel, right or wrong. This time US simply wants them to stop building illegal settlements. It shouldn't be a big deal right? Or am I missing something?
