r/worldnews - Shipping groups ask Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to support some 400,000 seafarers who are stuck on merchant vessels because of port and border restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19, some of them for more than a year.

Their first letter to the Sea Captain from the Simpsons didn’t get the response they hoped for. Why would they have been stuck for “more than a year”. I don’t think ports were shut down a year ago.
