r/worldnews - Arctic sea ice isn't freezing in October for the first time on record. Ocean temperatures in the area recently climbed to more than 5C above average, following a record-breaking heatwave and the unusually early decline of last winter’s sea ice.



That is a very worrisome development. I gave lectures on this in the late 1990's but didn't really expect us to follow the worst-case trajectory so closely we would be here already. Could the recent increased movement of the north pole be accelerating it?
