r/worldnews - Germany planning to ban floodlights from dusk for much of year as part of its bid to fight dramatic decline in insect populations. "Insects play an important role in the ecosystem...but in Germany, their numbers and their diversity has severely declined in recent years."

Light pollution may mess up bug navigation, but I suspect that driving fast metal grills and radiators around also has a negative effect on insect population.
