World Bank recommends that countries eliminate minimum wage, dismantle wrongful dismissal rules and contractual protections for workers

The Shock Doctrine is an excellent book on how any why this happens. Hint: It's not beneficial for anyone except the multi-nationals looking to exploit workers and tax payers.
